Happy Memorial Day, and a special thank you to all those who either have or currently do serve in uniform or under cover in the service of our country.
Today, our little family took a trip down the coast to eat some lunch at the Waterfront Grille in New Bedford and then on to get some ice cream at Grays in Four Corners, Tiverton, RI.
In both locations we basked in the glow of the Memorial day sunshine and listened to the ever present sound of ........... Not jets, not bagpipes, not trumpets........but...........Milwaukee's thunder, the sound of Harley Davidson bikes. Men and Women of all ages, dress, and weights joined us at both of these locations, and it got me to thinking:
What is it about Harley that is so ingrained with American culture?
What is it about Harley that creates and sustains a lifestyle outside of the motorcycle itself?
Why is it that there isn't the same broad association of culture, pride, and vacation enjoyment with a modern brand of American cars?

Here are some thoughts that were going through my head in trying to figure out the strong connection between veterans and Harley:
The brand has been around for a long time?
Motorcycles are about freedom?
Daring folks drive a motorcycle?
Bombs are loud too?
There are probably 100's of right answers, but whatever they are, it is time for a Car Company to share in that heritage. At Local Motors, we intend to do just that.
Go Local!
Go America!
Go Veterans!
